Post subject: Taiwan T-57 M-14 Mags
PostPosted: Fri Aug 11, 2006 8:33 am
I just ordered some T-57 M14 mazgazines from Sportsman's Guide. To my surprise they came in original cosmoline coated GI type wrappers then placed in individual plastic bags by the Sportsman's Guide folks.

The price was $12 per mag + shipping if you are a club member and buy 6 at a time.

I thought some here might want to know.

Here is their Online Catalog link: http://www.sportsmansguide.com/cb/cb.asp?a=151160

That's a good price.
The local fun shop here sells the T57's in 5 packs for $75, plus local sales tax.

As are mine, But can we get more? :(
So Van, were you part of the feeding frenzy here in CA before SB-23  went into effect?
I was paying upwards of $40/mag at the end of 1999 and grabbing everything I could find
Heck, I even bought FAL mags but the deal I was working on for a Belgian fell through on 12/29

ps-- 30 round M-14 mags?
I had some bad knockoff ones that never worked-wouldn't stay seated
were/are yours better than the junk I had? and can you shoot prone with yours?

I respectfully suggest that you may be mistaken there. SB-23 also banned the manufacture sale or importation of magazines with a capacity greater than 10 rounds, with no AW registration exemption.

If you have information to the contrary (and I truly hope you do) please let me know as I would love to get a couple more Beta-C mags for my reg'd AR-15

Thanks
BC

I believe that the reference was to the fact that the Killerfornia DOJ has virtually no way to tell how many mags you possessed prior to the bill's enactment. If you were to purchase additional pre-ban 20 rounders, iot would be a violation of the bill. However, if you were successful in obtaining several breeding pairs, your number of magazines could increase without DOJ interference.

In other words, don't attempt to tell any LEO that your 2005 manufactured CMI mags were those that you had "before the ban". :) :) :) :) :) :)

JR is correct ! You can't order any shiped mags into calif over 10 rounds, but if you were to go out of state and buy them personally and bring them back, then that would be another matter .

And can you not also buy mag bodies to 'replace' those worn out or bent through normal usage? Gee I wear them out all the time, so have to constantly replace mine!

Gentlemen, NEVER advocate illegal activities within the confines of the site! Ya' never know who's "bot" belongs to BATFE, or the Killerfornia DOJ.

Stick with the breeding pairs. We all know that none of us has ever been guilty of illegal activities in regards to local PC ordinances. Accordingly, we shouldn't tempt the newcomer with ideas as to how to circumvent the local crazies ideas of "gun safety" after they become law.

Everyone knows how much more dangerous 20 rounds mags are over two 10 round mags. Or how a single 15 round mag easily trumps two 10 rounders. I mean, a high capacity semi-auto weapon is going to do SO MUCH more damage than a 750ml bottle filled with a slurry of gasoline and powdered detergent, with a gas soaked rag as a fuse.

You guys just have to get your priorities in line with the PC Police of the state of cunfusion known affectionately as Killerfornia. After all, a ride through the barrios of LA will quickly show you how effective this legislation is. :!:

It needn't make sense, it's the law.
