Well, today is the two year anniversary since I have started posting weekly update's on military surplus ammo from around the world. It's gone well for a lot of the people that have come to use the information each week. Some weeks the posting has had over a 1k hits! It has been nice to see over 73,000 hits on this small backwoods outpost here on the internet. It's hard to believe the change that has happened to the Military Surplus ammunition in 7.62x51mm during the last 24 months that I have been reporting it here in the Ammo Dump. I started out reporting on 17 different suppliers/vendors and 13 countries to choose from for military surplus ammunition just a short 16 months ago.

Now look at it, we are down to just a couple of counties with military surplus ammunition that are pretty darn close to the bottom of the barrel in quality or accuracy. I didn't think that this day would get here so quickly without something on the horizon to look forward to in the short/long term. It's just a sad day for sure, with a lot of the USGI surplus being used up and the need for so much more new production. I don't think we will be seeing any large military surplus ammunition for quit a long time to come, maybe a decade or more before we see some light at the end of the tunnel. I sure hope that I'm 100% off base here folks.

I just read last month (Feb. Rifleman) that 69 different countries from around the world had manufactured the 7.62x51mm ammunition, it's hard to see it not coming here sooner or later. It's out there, I just need a few more million rounds of it here in my bunkers. Plus a few more million for the rest of you to horde/use.

Thank you all for coming on by and stopping for a look and for the few who left a posting or a PM on something they found that could help out others on this board and others, thank you very much. Well it's about time to lock an load or move another crate of military surplus ammunition into bunker #3. Oh my back has started to hurt again.

Ken

Thanks for all of your work XX1V!

I am not quite ready to give up hope yet. Looking at that list and the number of sources that used to carry the 7.62x51 is surely depressing. I finally got an M1A in 2005 and did not have the opportunity that some of you guys did so I only have a little laid away.

I have to think that the good old dollar will turn up some surplus ammo in the near future. At this point I am not spending a cent on SA or any Indian at these prices. I'll keep hoping and maybe start the reloading press again as I use up what I have.

Ed.

I find the Ammo Dump a real help, myself. Your selfless devotion to duty has gained you a 92 hour pass for President's Day. Just leave the paperwork with me and I'll see that it gets into the proper wastebas.............erhhh, file. :)

With wartime production rates in U.S. plants, there should be an excess hitting the market just after the Democrats screw everything up. Unless, of course, they find Iraq to be an immoral war, but Iran to be a worthy target. After all, we're already near-by, and the President of Iran has already called for a DNA test for Hitlery to determine sex.

Rifle Company owes a lot of it's growth to the Ammo Dump. A year ago there were over 20 gun boards that had redirects from their board to ours all due to our Ammunition's Master updates (XXIV Corps).

Now more than ever shooters will be searching for the best deals on ammo whether its surplus or commercial as we are already looking to commercial products like HSM 168 gr. 308 match at $9.00 a box.

This year will be a busy one for our Ammunition's Master, as he will be searching along with the rest of our members for the best deals on the net for surplus and will be starting an additional searches for 308 & 3006
commercial. So don't despair, because for us the search will be more diligent !

Thanks again XXIV Corps for you dedication and love for Rifle Company.

I first found RC on a thread at THR, about "some guy over there who keeps a running tab on 7.62 milsurp." Lurked a couple of months before joining.

It's been great getting to know you fine fellows. XXIV, thanks for getting me here, and for your ongoing commitment to sniffing out the good stuff! Everyone else, thanks for making this the best site on the net!!

Happy Anniversary XXIV Corps

Here's to hoping that there's still milsurp ammo to be researched in two years time.
Now get busy and find us some 6.5X55.

26th LGS ;)

Find us some 6.5x55? Are you planning on dessert when we have no dinner?

Dont listen to him! Focus on the 7.62x51. After we get a full belly of that we'll wory about some of them fancy calibers :!: :!:
