I am reading mixed reviews on Israeli 308, some good & some bad (split cases). What do you know about TZ 80?
Thanks

I shot around 40 or so Israeli 7.62 rounds a few weeks ago in my HK91. I think they were mainly 70's, but probably some 80's as well. I don't remember any problems other than -maybe- one that failed to fire. (I've slept since then.)

I shot a larger number of 70/80's vintage about 10 years ago and don't remember any problems either.

This is all loose surplus I purchased about 10 years ago and it was not nicely packed or sealed when I received it. I think the older stuff is stamped with both the month and year. I still have about a couple hundred rounds left...the ones with dates for the various Arab-Israeli wars are probably historically important. :)

YMMV.

There were reports that some 1980's IMI showed signs of overpressure. I don't remember any catastrophic failures, though.

Israeli ammo is routinely excellent quality. However, forty years of storage in some areas can lead to problems. The loose stuff, at one time, was from broken cases, and battlefield pick-ups (left-over belts, opened partial cases). :!:

I very much suspect that is what mine was/is...some of it was damaged/bent, misfires with firing pin marks on the primer, and even one round was missing the bullet and had a pebble stuck in it.

Some day I'm going to make a display like the Tatonka's where I have a dated section for each Arab/Israeli war with the matching cartidges.
